The Indian Medicos Organisation (IMO) is the national voice of Indian physicians. Founded in 2003. The IMO's mission is to provide leadership for physicians and to promote the highest standards of medical ethics and education to protect the health of all Indian citizens. On behalf of its members and the general public in India, the IMO performs a wide variety of functions, such as advocating health promotion and patient safety policies and strategies, advocating access to quality health care in local communities, and providing leadership and guidance to physicians to help them influence, manage and adapt to changes in health care delivery. Indian Medicos Organisation (IMO) is the only representative voluntary organization of Doctors of all system of Medicine. The IMO is a National, voluntary, not-for-profit, professional Organisation of 2.82 million medical professionals in india. Representing the collective view of Indian physicians, surgeons, medical researchers and healthcare workers, IMO is committed to advocating for better public healthcare and providing leadership for the Indian medical community.

The Organisation was started in 2003 on the occasion of the Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti (2 october) at Lucknow with the avowed objectives:
TODAY, I.M.O. is a well established organization with is Headquarters at Lucknow and State/Terr. Branches in 34 States and union Territories. It has over 2,84,000 doctors* as its members through over 390* local branches spread all over the country.
HOW THE I.M.O. Functions:
The general control management and direction of the policy of the Organisation is vested in the ‘Central Council’ to which local branches send representatives and which meets once a year to lay down policies. It delegates its powers to ‘WORKING COMMITTEEE’ (A representatives body of all state Terr. Branches) for implementation of programmes and activities (but without powers to change the rules). This committee meets at least three times a year to execute various activities for welfare of members and the people in matters of health. finally the nomination of delegates has been made by central comittee with the approval of National President of organisation.
The National Headquarter of the IMO is situated at Lucknow. For Housing the headquarters of the Organisation, a three storeyed building has been constructed at Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
President IMO and three vice-presidents are elected by all the members of Organisation, while the Electoral College for the other offices is the Central Council.
Similar situation prevails at the State level, under the Jurisdiction of the State Branches the local branches are established which functions autonomously within the frame work of the IMO constitution.
